MEPPI subsidiary and Clean Power Research launch streamlined DER management integration at DISTRIBUTECH

Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc.’s (MEPPI) subsidiary Smarter Grid Solutions and Clean Power Research announced the completion of efforts to integrate SGS’s Strata Grid Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS) solution with Clean Power Research’s PowerClerk.
This integration, announced at DISTRIBUTECH, streamlines Distributed Energy Resource (DER) asset registration through the PowerClerk platform, while enabling real-time control of both front-of-the-meter and behind-the-meter DERs via Strata Grid.
As the adoption of DERs accelerates, utilities are increasingly implementing DERMS and Virtual Power Plant (VPP) solutions. To manage these assets effectively, however, utilities must engage asset owners and navigate complex, time consuming processes around onboarding DERs into DERMS/VPP systems. The integration of Strata Grid and PowerClerk is meant to addresses these challenges, simplify DER registration, and improve asset visibility.
Clean Power Research’s PowerClerk is the interconnection management platform of choice for over 80 utilities across North and Central America, providing built-in communication channels to DER owners and installers, integration with utility back-office systems, automation features, and certified equipment lists.
SGS’s Strata Grid is a grid DERMS software delivering real-time control and visibility of both front-of-the-meter and behind-the-meter DERs. By leveraging PowerClerk’s system of record and communication channels, Strata Grid enables utilities to streamline DER asset registration while providing control room operators with real-time insights into DER location, registration status, and technical details.
This integration automates the DER asset registration process, allowing utilities to streamline operations, reduce administrative overhead, and improve data accuracy. Additionally, this integration establishes a scalable framework to accommodate the growing number and diversity of DERs.
“The seamless transfer of validated DER asset information from PowerClerk ensures up-to-date, reliable data, supporting better decision-making and more effective DER management,” said Joe Beer, VP of Product and Customer Success at Clean Power Research. “PowerClerk’s built-in communication tools also enhance customer engagement, making it easier to inform DER owners about VPP program opportunities.”
